Have you ever thought to yourself, "My kitchen is just not gay enough!" Well, here are four different suggestions to make your kitchen even gayer.
Have you ever thought to yourself, "My porn collection is just not gay enough!" Well, it's time you did something about that.

I have seen the future, and someday we will all have wood grain refrigerators, we'll wear velvet pant suits, and bubbles on our heads. And in the very near future we will all have VIP Memberships to Lavender Lounge...
Cybersocket Magazine has been running a yearly column called "Our Favorite Gay Porn Blogs" since they first began publishing. I have been blogging since 2003, and every year I check to see if I made Cybersocket's list. Sometimes I'm disappointed, but this year I made it and they even used my logo!
"Because they're free and easy to create and maintain, blogging has become the most efficient way to reach out and touch someone. Whatever the agenda - whether to inform, entertain, promote, or all of the above - blogging is now an essential marketing tool. Blogs represent one of the easiest ways to communicate ideas instantly to a worldwide audience and no industry had embraced them as heartily as the porn world."
"Since 1995, San Francisco-based Lavender Lounge has been sending its smutty gay paparazzi to cover outdoor festivals, hip bars and nightclubs, and gay porn star gatherings. The talented writers add a fun edge to their coverage of gay porn culture, making it one of our all-time favorites."
I don't quite understand the results of the Lavender Lounge survey for January 2010. I asked the question "Do you prefer spending time at porn websites or dating websites?" First of all, there were a very small number of responses, which is odd. Second of all, 100% of those that did respond said they prefer porn sites.
Does that mean if I put that survey on a dating site the results would be opposite? Or should I be encouraged to know I am in the right business? Or maybe the key phrase of the question was "spending time". Every gay man I know belongs to several dating sites. Perhaps the results reflect fact that when they want to hook up, they want to do it as fast as possible and move on. When they want to look at porn, it's more like zoning out in front of the TV for long stretches of time.
The survey question for February 2010 is rather important to help me choose the direction of Lavender Lounge and my company in general. I need to know if the effort I put into writing, spelling, grammar, and choosing the right blog items is time well spent, so please cast your votes.
Fans of gothic cartoonist Edward Gorey created fancy dress ball years ago to celebrate the unique imagery that's hard to describe unless you see it. The "Edwardian Ball" is not so much about style of British royalty of the early 20th century, but more about the imaginary world of an eccentric artist, Ed Gorey.
Who the hell is Ed Gorey? Gorey has become an iconic figure in the Goth subculture. Events themed on his works and decorated in his characteristic style are common in the more Victorian-styled elements of the subculture, notably the costumed Edwardian costume balls held annually in San Francisco and Los Angeles, which include performances based on his works. The "Edwardian" in this case refers less to the Edwardian period of history than to Gorey himself, whose characters are depicted as wearing fashion styles ranging from those of the mid-19th century to the 1930s.
He might be best known for the opening titles of the PBS series Mystery! is based on Gorey's art, in an animated sequence. (Oh, now I know who he is!)
I attended the Ball with a group of more fashion-forward Sisters and the event was awesome. Though upon entry I was inform by security that photos would only be allowed withOUT flash, I managed to create over 100 art pieces of my own. They are currently available for viewing by VIP Members of Lavender Lounge and
Vintage Bareback. (Join one site, and passwords work for both.)

Here's a good example of how statistics can be manipulated. I ran this survey on Lavender Lounge for just over a month. I could have written several different ways to get different results, but I really didn't put a lot of thought into it. I could have run two different headlines with the same statistics.
MAJORITY OF WEB SURFERS DON'T BUY PORN
OR
57% OF LAVENDER LOUNGE VISITORS SPEND UP TO $1,000 A YEAR ON PORN
Both of those headlines could be considered true, based on the survey results. The people have spoken. Sure, "Only fools pay for porn" was the top vote-getter, but I kinda put it in as a red herring, knowing that the snarky wording of it would get more votes just because people love to be negative. It's their "inner punk child" leaking out rebelling against the establishment (even if the "establishment" in this case is the very anti-establishment porn industry).
But if you look at the results another way, by totaling up the responses of guys who spent any amount of money on porn in 2009, from as little as $1 for the year to $1,000 or more last year, 57% of the responders bought something. I think that's actually pretty good. Now, if only I could get them to spend that money on MY sites...
So when you see statistics shouting, "4 out of 5 dentists surveyed said..." or any poll taken on Fox News, it's easy to see how statistics can not only be written to get the results you want, but you can spin the results to be interpreted in numerous self-serving ways.

Merry Christmas from Lavender Lounge Studios! Hoping you enjoy a pleasant holiday season and enjoy your time off by visiting any of my fun and sexy websites.

PRESS RELEASE: For Immediate Release
RETRO GAY PORN WEBSITE LAUNCH: VINTAGEBAREBACK.COM
Current Lavender Lounge Members Get Access to Both Sites!
Lavender Lounge Studios is pleased to announce the launch of their long-awaited website completely devoted to vintage gay porn. VintageBareback.com will be a showcase for rare and collectable gay erotic movies, magazines and still photos from the personal collection of site owner, Mark Kliem. And the best part is CURRENT LAVENDER LOUNGE MEMBERS CAN USE THEIR EXISTING PASSWORDS FOR BOTH SITES!
"In the past two years, my personal collection of vintage gay porn has grown large enough to warrant building a separate website," says Mark Kliem of Lavender Lounge Studios. "The most exciting part has been the purchase of 400 or more gay porn movies on 8mm and Super 8 film. I have already transferred a big chunk of them to digital format to show on VintageBareback.com. These are films never before available at LavenderLounge.com!"
In addition to several large purchases of vintage films, Lavender Lounge has also acquired hundreds of gay erotic magazines from the 1950's through the 1970's. "I've been scouring eBay and garage sales for the most obscure old porn. Gay imagery of any kind, even the most innocent or mundane was considered shocking at the time, so you can imagine how rare it was to find nudity or hard core gay sex in print. We've forgotten how secretive and underground the adult industry was at the time. As a result, most of the old magazines I've unearthed have no masthead, no contact address and no copyright information," says Kliem.
Sexuality is the core component that gay men share with each other and these films and magazines were often the only connections gay men had with other members of the tribe. Below the surface of mere exploitation of naked bodies, they are a time capsule of how we lived, how we dressed and how we connected when there were no rules, norms or precedent. "Building this site is a labor of love for me," says Mark Kliem. "I will be approaching the material from a somewhat historical perspective without being too scholarly and dull. The home page of VintageBareback.com is essentially a blog, so I will be using that forum to connect the dots between various cultural references and always looking for humor along the way."
LavenderLounge.com has been Kliem's flagship site since 1999 and vintage gay porn has always been a compliment to other original content on the site. Vintage gay porn became one of the most popular sections of LavenderLounge.com, but as the site grew, it became apparent that the main site should be split into smaller, more niche-specific sites. Creating a spin-off site of vintage-only material is the second phase of the recent re-launch of LavenderLounge.com. Current members of LavenderLounge.com will have full access to VintageBareback.com with their existing passwords. New members of VintageBareback.com will also get full access to LavenderLounge.com with their same passwords.

If you haven't noticed, one of the new features of Lavender Lounge is the visitor survey located on the right side of the page. Though it's not very scientific, I am going to try to standardize these polls by conducting for around 30 days starting around the first of every month.
The results of the poll from November 2009 is shown here. I was watching this one with great curiosity to help me plan the future of my business. For the first two or three weeks of the month the results were different than you see here, though. At that time, the winner was clearly the "Anal Sex" section. I can understand that. Given the choice with no restrictions, it's human nature to choose the biggest, best, or most extreme. On the surface, the term "Anal Sex" invokes a more hardcore image than "Solo Studs", so naturally, that's what guys would choose.
My gameplan with LavenderLounge.com since the recent re-launch is to focus this site on my original photography. Most of it is the archive of "Paparazzi" photos I shoot, represented by the sections "Streetfair Skin", "Pornstar Parties" and "Barhopping Bare". That's a genre you don't see often in adult websites, so it's hard for most consumers to understand. That's why the VIP Room also includes my own original hardcore photos plus select galleries from other studios that I promote ("Anal Sex" and "Solo Studs").
It's interesting that the section of Lavender Lounge voted as your favorite is "Vintage". For some strange reason, the winner changed from "Anal Sex" to "Vintage" sometime last week. I always knew (and hoped) that my members liked vintage gay porn, and the survey confirms it. What you don't know is that I am very close to launching an entire website devoted to vintage gay porn. But the best part is, members of Lavender Lounge will have access to BOTH sites! I am currently in the process of adding tons of new material that has never appeared on Lavender Lounge, and most of it is going to be MOVIES! Stay tuned, and be sure to renew your VIP Membership, there's lots more fun in store, and thank you for voting. The next survey will be concerning your porn buying habits from 2009. Check it out.
