Daniel Radcliffe Shirtless
If only I knew more catch phrases from Harry Potter movies, I'm sure I'd come up with a smarmy comment about young Daniel Radcliffe's shirtless photo session. But since this photo is going to be spread around all over, I'll leave those campy quotes to the hacks at the tabloids.
Yes, the photo really is Harry Potter all growed up. In the one Harry Potter movie I did see, there was one (of many) slightly homoerotic scene of Harry in the tub, and I must say, he did look quite fetching... Oh, excuse me, the doorbell's ringing. It must be Dateline NBC coming to bust me...

Last night I saw a new episode of the HBO show "Extras" starring Ricky Gervais (creator of BBC's "The Office"). In it, Andy (Ricky Gervais) is offered a speaking part in a Daniel Radcliffe film. He also lands Maggie some extra work - and an eager young suitor, Harry Potter himself. Dressed in a Scout's uniform for his latest role, the actor comes on strong, telling Maggie he's "done it with a girl, intercourse-wise," before his mother interrupts and drags him off. Returning later to close the deal, Daniel shows Andy the super-sized condom he's unrolled for the occasion, then accidentally flings it onto the head of Dame Diana Riggs. He later asks Diana Riggs if she still has that cat suit from "The Avengers". Funny shit, and maybe a bit of overcompensation perhaps?
Well, a lot of other people think Harry Potter movies are more than a little gay-ish, too, because You Tube has a slew of re-edited scenes set to music to drive that point home. I think I like this one the best.

Dick Dubois Vintage Muscle Gallery Added
If you are lucky enough to be a VIP member of Lavender Lounge, you'll be as tickled as I am to see the new gallery of vintage beefcake photos of Dick Dubois that just got added to the Groovy Guys section! You may not know him by name, but Dick Dubois is one of those faces that really symbolizes the 1950's muscle man type that got me interested in vintage porn in the first place. And why wouldn't he be symbolic of the 50's muscle? Dick Dubois was named Mr. America 1954! Dick Dubois is right up there with names from that era like Steve Reeves, Lex Barker, and Ed Fury.
In the pictures below, Dick Dubois and George Eiferman help Mae West camp up her Las Vegas stage show (check out those white sandals!), and in the other, Dickie Boy and Steve Reeves hold Debbie Reynolds over their heads at LA's Muscle Beach to promote MGM's "Athena".
Last year I assigned Retardo the task of choosing a photo from my vintage porn collection to use on tshirts. He chose the one with Debbie Reynolds, but in black and white. I didn't know I had a color photo of it until today! (After that, Retardo gave himself the title of "Art Director". So far, other than telling me, "You're NOT wearing THAT, are you?", that's about all the "art" he's directed around here.)

Liz Renay No Longer (Desperate) Living
1950's blond bombshell with a sorted past, Liz Renay, died on Monday at age 80. She's best known to my generation for playing Muffy St. Jacques in John Waters "Desperate Living". As late as last year, she was still doing stage performances, as documented in this video clip from the 2006 Miss Exotic World Pageant and Striptease Reunion in Las Vegas.

Find out how she "streaked" down Hollywood Boulevard with 4,000 cheering onlookers (see photo), had seven husbands, slept with Jerry Lewis, Glen Ford, Burt Lancaster (as documented in her book "My First 2000 Men"), and went to jail to avoid being "hit" by mobsters. Fabulous.
Knockout Liz Renay's personal life has often overshadowed her film career. She became a showgirl and, later, a stripper after running away from home in the 1940s. In the 1950s, Renay made an effort toward acting, but when she was sentenced to three years in Terminal Island Prison after refusing to fink on mob activities, her hopes for screen stardom vanished. However, after her release from prision, Renay published her famous autobiography My Face for the World to See, and found work as an actress, albeit in low-budget films. Some of her work includes The Thrill Killers (1964; with Ray Dennis Steckler), The Nasty Rabbit (1965; with Arch Hall Jr.), and John Waters' Desperate Living (1977; with Mink Stole). Renay's latest film to date is Ted V. Mikels' Mark of the Astro-Zombies (2002; with Tura Satana).

Kathy Griffin to Host GayVN Awards!

BREAKING NEWS: Kathy Griffin to Host GAYVN Awards
CHATSWORTH, CA -- Organizers of the 9th Annual GAYVN Awards appear to have announced that comedian Kathy Griffin will be hosting the show in San Francisco on February 24th. A photo of Ms. Griffin and a headline naming her as the host have been posted to GAYVNawards.com, but as yet no press announcement has been made and neither GAYVN.com nor AVN.com has been updated with the news.
As well, Kathy Griffin's official website has not been updated with the news. However, her website reveals that season three of Ms. Griffin's reality show "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List" is still in production, so it is possible her hosting duties will be filmed and then chronicled during the upcoming season, set to air over the summer.

Okay, I'm trying to NOT laugh, but I had to share this story with you. New Falcon Pay Per View Movies
Falcon has just added some new movies to their online Pay Per View pages. It's interesting to note that they seem to be adding movies to Pay Per View sooner than in the past. And that's not just their own Pay Per View either. All the studios are sending movies much faster to all the streaming video theaters (Naked Sword, MaleFlixxx.tv, GayVideoCafe, etc.) almost right away. Streaming video is replacing DVD very quickly!

Straight Girl Loves Lavender Lounge!
I few weeks ago, I got an email from a woman named Tiffany from VintagePornReview.com. She writes reviews of vintage porn sites, but the sites she normally reviews are primarily featuring retro pinup girls for straight guy customers. She said she hasn't had much experience with sites in the "gay niche", so I gave her a set of passwords and hoped for the best. She ended up giving Lavender Lounge a glowing review! The best quote was, "There's a lot of personality infused in just the design alone." That reminds me of a friend who told me when he first saw Lavender Lounge, his first reaction was, "This site looks like it was designed by a drag queen!" Well honey, it was...

Matthew Rush to Direct for Falcon
Let's see. John Rutherford is gone. Chi Chi LaRue is gone. Chris Steele is gone. Steven Scarborough is gone so long they brought him back as a "guest" director. John Bruno's movies for Falcon didn't shake up the GayVN nominations. So who is going to be Falcon's star director? TA DA! Matthew Rush. Please add your comments below.
San Francisco, CA – Friday, January 12th, 2007 – Falcon Studios announces the directorial debut of Falcon Lifetime Exclusive Matthew Rush. Rush blazed onto the scene in September of 2000 shortly after being discovered at an Ohio nightclub by Falcon representatives Bill VanBoklen and Chi Chi LaRue. When VanBoklen introduced Rush to LaRue she took a swift look at him and exclaimed, “Hello ugly!” Rush who at the time didn’t realize he was being paid a huge compliment by the famous Directrixx was simultaneously crushed and oddly excited. Within no time Rush was being directed by John Rutherford in his debut film for Falcon, “Bounce” (FVP146). Rutherford signed Rush to an Exclusive contract after the completion of “Bounce” and in 2002 - just two years later - signed him as a Lifetime Exclusive.
Rush’s directorial debut due out on May 29th will be an all-sex homage to “Bounce” titled, “Bounce Back” (FVP175). After performing in a total of 25 films for Falcon Entertainment (20 Falcon films; 3 Jocks films and 1 Mustang film), Rush wanted to throw his name in the Directors arena while still remaining active in front of the camera as well. Rush commented, “The opportunity to direct for Falcon is an honor and a big responsibility. I now have a new respect for all the directors I’ve worked with since getting into this business. To sit in the director’s chair was a big eye opener for me. This was an exciting experience and I’m already looking forward to directing my next film.”
In the six years since Rush first appeared in “Bounce” his name has become one of the most recognizable names in the gay porn industry, but porn is not the only thing Rush has on his resume. After being bit by the acting bug a few years into doing porn Rush was introduced to playwright Ronnie Larson and given the opportunity to appear in one of his plays. Rush has since toured the country with three Larson productions, “Making Porn”, “Ten Naked Men” and “My Boyfriend The Stripper”. The independent film industry has come calling as well: Rush appeared in this year’s critically acclaimed comedy, “Another Gay Movie” and also appeared in the gay thriller, “Third Man Out”.

Chris Steele Joins Centaur Films
Porn performer and director Chris Steele has announced that he has joined Centaur Films as director and Vice President of West Coast Productions. I was pretty shocked to hear that, primarily because I hadn't heard a word about Centaur Films in a long, long time! This announcement is obviously a move to re-start the dormant Centaur Films line. If it pays off, I'm betting Steele would get a nice piece of the action, rather than be just another "employee" at another company. Smart move.
Chris will be handling all aspects of production for Centaur Films in Los Angeles and the west coast while Centaur President, Chip Daniels, continues to produce and direct some of the industry's hottest gay adult videos at the company's headquarters in Florida.

Gay Porn Movie Reviews at Reel Guys
I haven't said much about my other sites for a while, and since we're in gay porn "Oscar" season, now would be a good time to remind everyone that I also run a site of gay porn movie reviews. ReelGuys.org is a database-driven and completely searchable web site that offers reviews of the best (and worst!) in gay porn. It started out as a way to refer business to some of my streaming video sponsors like Naked Sword and Gay Video Cafe, and MaleFlixxx.tv, but the site is now evolving and I have big plans for it!
I'd like to welcome a new reviewer named Jay C. Blodgett, who has just submitted two new extensive reviews of COLT Minute Man 27: Big Shots and Dual: Take It Like A Man, also from COLT. I intend to change that through the magic of the internet and a few good publicity campaigns.

The battle between gay porn studios just keeps heating up!
As a service to exclusive models, studios often create websites for them. Fredrick Ford to Perform at "Chelsea Boys" Signing
Anyone who's seen gay newspapers or magazines anytime since the 1990's will recognize the artwork from the comic strip "Chelsea Boys". I got this press release from porn star Fredrick Ford that he will be performing at a book siging of "Stepping Out" by the illustrators of the iconic gay comic strip of erotic humor. The poster art is so great, I thought I'd share it you.
Ever since getting custom artwork created for Lavender Lounge (done by AXEL), I've had an appreciation for that type of work. "As this world-renowned strip comes to an end with the release of this book, it was such an honor to be illustrated by Glen Hanson and pictured with the crew of characters I've come to love all these years," says Fredrick. Riding Hard - New From Falcon
"Riding Hard", Falcon's newest movie, is another cowboy epic. (Well, SUBURBAN cowboy epic maybe.) There is a trailer for the movie in the Falcon website.
I looked at the trailer, and at one point, the old fashioned sepia tone Dudley Do-Right titles said, "Cum Eatin' Cowboys". It then showed Dean Monroe feeding Manuel Torres his own semen. Whew, for a minute there, I thought there was going to be some swapping of body fluids, which I don't think I have never seen in a Falcon movie before (or have I not noticed?) Eating your own cum is safe sex, eating someone else's is riskier.

Porn Company Buys SF Historic Building
A local fetish porn company, Kink.com, has plunked down over $14.5 million to purchase a 200,000 square foot historic building in San Francisco. The San Francisco Armory was built in 1914 and was used by the National Guard until 1976. In 1978, it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and has been mostly inactive ever since.
In recent years, it had been used to store giant sets from the San Francisco Opera, but I got a chance to see the inside about 10 years ago when it was used as storage for a local auto body shop. I had to go there to pick up my car, and was awestruck by the sheer size of the open area. To get a feel for the scale of the place, look at how tiny the cars look in the photo!
Kink.com is quite a unique operation and home of the notorious FuckingMachines.com that features RubeGoldberg - meets - BurningMan - meets - Marquis De Sade motorized dildo contraptions. At one point years ago I was offered a job doing video editing for them. But every new employee, regardless of their job description, has to start out washing dildos. (I'm not exaggerating!)
That scary Gothic building is the perfect place to shoot large-scale fetish videos, so I am sure Titan, Raging Stallion and Hot House are already making reservations. But something that big is hard to disguise from the neighbors, especially since the story has been reported in the Chronicle. What will the neighbors think? Who knows. The side street has been a location for needle exchange for years, so it couldn't be much worse.
The question is, what will the City think? It's a tumble-down wreck with water in the basement and Kink.com is hoping to attract big Hollywood productions to help pay the bills. I guess that means the kink.com is going to have to let their staff join the Unions or else no Hollywood productions will set foot in there. They also plan to get permits to open the big room for fundraisers and events. Good luck with that! If that happens, the City is just chomping at the bit to send in the vulchers from the Building Department.

Hard Choice Awards
As we anxiously await the nominations for the GayVN Awards, Onan the Vulgarian has released his 13th Annual Hard Choice Awards for gay porn movies from 2006. His awards, however, are a bit more to-the-point as it states, "No party, no fanfare, no shindig, no porn stars, no statuettes. No lifetime achievement awards, no drag queens, no envelopes, no acceptance speeches, no Ms. Congeniality. Just the year's best in all-male porn."
Not sure if I agree with most of these choices, but all the major players got mentioned somewhere at least. I also like the special categories that are not included in other awards shows: "Savage Humor", "Deepest Throat" (Derrick Hanson!), and "Best Homage to Cleopatra". And don't forget the "Honorable Mention awarded to Chi Chi LaRue's diplodocus-inspired hairstyle" in The Velvet Mafia

"Damon and Hunter: Doing It Together" SF Debut
There is a new mainstream/underground movie that is debuting in San Franciso next week starring two young gay porn stars, Damon DeMarco and Hunter James. Fresh on the heels of John Cameron Mitchell's "mainstream gone porn" film "Short Bus" and Michael Lucas's "porn gone mainstream" film "La Dolce Vita", I'm not sure what we're going to get with "Damon and Hunter". Andy Warhol New Year's Eve
This year, not only did I throw my big Xmas Day feast, but I got the brilliant idea to do a New Year's Eve Party, too. (Yeah, great. Like I don't have ENOUGH to do!) When I came up with the theme, "Andy Warhol's Factory", there was no stopping me! I spent three full days doing nothing but prep for that party. Retardo helped a lot, but we were both getting a little testy for a while during the set up. The whole reason I got myself so buried in debt to buy this house was that it has a basement big enough to throw big parties. The big Folsom Fair party I promised everyone didn't happen, but something possessed me to go crazy with this one.
The raw basement space allowed for plenty of creativity in decoration. We set up an alter with all my light-up Jesus pictures. Retardo got to do a grouping of all my black velvet painting, which he's been dying to do. We wrapped the walls in silver plastic, and created a room divider out of tin foil and Xmas lights (my "pretentious art school sculture").
I got to show off my new 65" TV (I got for free!) and showed vintage movies from Athletic Model Guild and Peter Berlin. I finally got to set up a proper DJ booth for first-time-DJ-in-public KP (his music kicked ass!) Set up a proper bar area for volunteer bartenders Karin and Lori, and re-debuted my vintage restaraunt booth, rescued from Naked Sword. I had plenty of more ideas, but I'm never at a loss for "party gimmicks". At some point, you've just got to let the guests amuse themselves. Sure enough, it was the guests themselves that contributed a fireworks show on the street at midnight!
It turned out to be big hit that my friends will remember a long time. And apparently, there was a LOT of sex going on in every corner of the house! There was evidence of sex in both bathrooms, the stoner room, the back deck upstairs, and apparently the "Bamboo Forest" will forever have the reputation as a tea room!
Theme-wise, everyone "got" the Warhol concept. We had a chubby Edie Sedgewick, a Salvador Dali on life support, a gun-toting pyromaniac straight guy in drag, FIVE Andy Warhols!
The pictures from my digital camera are now available at SisterZsaZsa.com (free site!), but but that doesn't include the stack of Polaroids I still need to scan. Andy was always shooting Polaroids for his Superstar auditions, so that gimmick was a must-have.
Still glowing from the fabulous event, I awoke the next morning to a backed up sewer that flooded the basement with poo water! Didn't take long to set the tone for 2007!

Naked Sword Top 12 Movies of 2006
I don't "do" "Best Of" lists at the end of the year because I have a hard time ranking one thing over another. Not to mention the fact that I can't remember anything earlier than breakfast, yet alone what gay porn movie or porn star was hot last year. I prefer to let other people make their lists so we can all bitch about their accuracy.
Naked Sword's list of Top Movies from 2006 is no doubt compiled by viewership numbers, which in a way, is hard to dispute if it is purely by the numbers. Unlike awards shows that choose the best movies released in a particular year, Naked Sword's list represents what people were watching during a particular month, whether they were new releases or not. Regardless of the release date, porn is porn; it's penises stuck into holes, and 2003 is hard to distinguish from 2006 if you have your dick in one hand and a mouse in the other. 100 Best Gay Porn Movies 2006
ManNet.com's list of the best 100 gay porn movies of 2006, with Titan and Raging Stallion both making the list with 15 entries. The spin-doctors at both studios sent out press releases within minutes of each other and each claimed their studio "topped" the list, but by their own definition of "top".
Titan states that of the 18 total movies they released last year, 15 or (80% of them) made it to the list.
Raging Stallion also claimed "the top honor" with their list of 15 films, with the added mention that director Chris Ward was selected by XBIZ magazine as one of the top 4 power brokers in the Gay erotic industry.
I'd say it was a tie, 15-love.

Hey Mark,
I wanted to clear up a few inaccuracies. ;-) Raging Stallion counted films that they did not produce themselves, they only distribute the films from Colin O'Neal and from Pistol Media, they did not make the films themselves. All 15 of the films named to the list from Titan were made and produced by Titan, not an outside company. That's why we worded the line in our press release as we did. Last year we were #1 with all 18 of our films being named to the list.
"For the second year in a row, Titan Media leads the list with the most films recognized from any single studio."
The other issue is the "Top 4 power brokers" named by Xbiz included myself and Gill Sperlein our General counsel. The 4th person was Michael Lucas. So, 2 of the 4 "power brokers" were from Titan Media. Trump! Not that I am competitive or anything!
