Mustang's "Forced Entry"
"Forced Entry" from Mustang looks hot! It's full of guys that are just my type - hairy muscle bear cubs. The "hook" of "Forced Entry" is clearly on the niche of double penetration, and by that I refer to the gymnastic trick of inserting two penises into one butthole. La Dolce Vita Wins Big At GayVN Awards
The GayVN Awards for 2007 were held at the Castro Theater in San Francisco for the first time, and by all accounts, it was a huge success. Companies like Naked Sword spent an unbelievable amount of money on huge parties, dinners, booze, and every kind of promotional material imaginable. The SF Chronicle covered it twice, first as a pre-event piece about the state of the industry, and also as a wrap-up of the show.
Kathy Griffin did a great job hosting the show, probably better than Ellen did with the Oscars. Kathy's father just died last week, but as she said, "Thank god for my gays bringing me here, otherwise I'd be at home crying." Other than the funeral, the timing for her appearance was perfect, given the recent events with Britney Spears and Anna Nichole Smith. The jokes wrote themselves!
There were some surprize guests at the awards including Robert Best from Project Runway Season 3 (the queen that designs dresses for Barbi). Tober Brandt brought his Mom. "I took her to the Black Party, too, this is nothing!", he said. Derek Hartley, nominated for Non-Sex Performance in "Big Rig", brought gay male half the bitches from Sirius Radio's "Derek and Romaine Show".
In addition to Best Picture, Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita was awarded trophies for Best Actor (Michael Lucas), Art Direction, Direction (Michael Lucas and Tony Dimarco), DVD Extras/ Special Edition, Editing (Frank Tyler), Marketing Campaign, Music (Nekked), Non-Sex Performance (Samantha Samson), Packaging, Screenplay (Tony Dimarco), Supporting Actor (Spencer Quest), Threesome (Jason Ridge, Michael Lucas, Derrick Hanson), and Videography (Tony Dimarco). The movie won every category it was nominated!
Francois Sagat was chosen as Performer of the Year, and Matt Cole as Best New Comer. Paul Baressi can stop whining cause he finally got an award for Best Non-Sex Performance, although he had to share it with Savannah Samson, also from La Dolce Vita.

GayVN Summit Day 2
What a busy day! Day Two of the GayVN Summit was great. I sat in all the seminars, while my guys were still trying to solve this hacker problem. It was held at the W Hotel, and I teased everyone,
"So, you're staying at the Y?"
"No, the W."
"Oh, the YWCA!"
During the "State of The Industry" seminar, there was a lot of talk about HD and DVD's and self promotion blah blah blah. Near the end, I finally raised my hand and said, "Nobody's talked about barebacking yet." I asked the panel why the studios aren't doing more HIV testing, and why the gay studios are following the testing policies used by the straight studios. I asked the people representing video distributors what the "real" numbers are regarding bareback sales. But then I blew everyone away when I asked what would happen if a studio changed its policy from "condom only" to "HIV Negative models only". The best response was from the moderator, Morgan Summer from Cybersocket who gave the pros and cons and then summed it up by saying, "It's gets so complicated I just don't want to think about it." Sadly, I think a lot of us, including myself, feel the same way right now.
Even more sad, a guy from an online store came up to me afterward and told me sales of bareback movies are 20 to 1. I think the big studios that are condom-only are getting worried about sales right now, and I fear that if they start to change their policies at some point, they may make some serious policy errors - both business wise and in the health and safety of the community. I want the big studios to remain successful and lead the way to protect their models and project the right influence on gay culture. There are a lot of very irresponsible bareback studios out there exploiting the trend, and I'd hate to have them set the standard. We need more of these kind of discussions!
But back to the fun. Falcon had a cute cocktail party in the hotel. I chatted with Eric Rhodes, and hugged Roman Heart just as he was giving a blow job on the video screen. I introduced myself to Cole Ryan, and confirmed that, yes, he WAS a virgin when he did the scene in Titan's "Closed Set". "I was a kid from the suburbs, and I just needed a way to get it over with.", he said. That's historic!
From there, we went to the Kink.com party at the old Armory Building. Got the full tour, it's amazing! I predict lots of great parties and Burning Man related events will be going on there.
And finally, I ended up at, where else, The End Up. Brandon Baker threw a RentBoy.com party there. I've lived across the street for a year now, and that was the first time I set foot in there. The last time I was at the End Up, the trees were skinny little saplings - but so was I.
But today is the big day! GayVN Awards tonight! Expect lots of pictures next week.

GayVN Fever
So, where did I leave off? Okay, the site has been up and down for the last few days due to hackers. Hope they die in a Turkish prison. Britney's gone totally nuts, breaking car windows with an umbrella. (See my predictions from earlier this week, things are heating up.) Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead and so is Anna Nichole Smith. (One of those is an obscure SNL reference...)
And the GayVN Awards are Saturday!
The GayVN Summit starts today and everybody in the porn business is in town. I had dinner with the guys from Banana Guide last night, went to the Open House at Raging Stallion today, met Thom from Smut Junkies, and ran into COLT man Skye Woods shopping at Burlington Coat Factory. (Should have measured his inseam for him...)
I also did my voting for GayVN Awards today at the last minute. I really enjoyed watching the movies this year. I looked at so many, and I'm going to give you a brief run down of the last batch I watched.
The Best Sex Comedy category is a tough one. It's almost impossible to make porn funny, but a lot of people try. Retardo was absolutely in pain watching "Fucking With the Stars" from All Worlds. I thought it was cute and silly, and better than most attempts at comedy, and each model was super hot. Retardo left before I showed "BeTwinked" from PZP. Good thing - he would have never survived this gay porn version of "Bewitched". I, however, loved it because of it's awfulness! To keep my own sanity, I think of it as a bad comedy with good porn in it. Cute young guys, especially the big dicked Latino, but certain scenes got ruined by bad audio, and I won't even talk about the campy special effects. There is even a 350 pound Paul Lynde character. "Uncle Albert, um, you've gainded a little weight." "Yes, Sammy, I ATE Kirstie Ally!"
With DVD technology, ANY movie with dialogue should offer an all-sex version in the Extras. I can't believe customers with their dick in their hand will watch the comedy parts a second time.
"The Show" from Dark Alley Media also copies a TV show formula, but instead of a game show or sit com, it used the reality elimination show format, i.e. "Project Runway", "Top Chef", "Survivor', etc. They don't lampoon the format, they do it for real, except that they don't give away a house to the winner. They put the contestants through the same tacky elimination rounds as "The Bachelor" except they do fetish fashion show, and compete for best top and best bottom. The movie started out very strong, with editing and the "feel" of a network TV show. But again, audio problems made it unwatchable later on. But the newly beefed-up Owen Hawk is enough to mesmerize me, sound or no sound. Made in conjuction with black-niched Pitbull Productions, there is a lot of inches of black dick in this movie, and some of it gets hard, too.
Back to comedies, "2nd Inning 2" from Electro Video was probably a good idea when it was pitched, but it just went way too over the top. Eddie Stone wrote and starred in it, and all I can say is I hope to see him in a better vehicle. He seems to have a natural ability for acting and comedy, but it didn't work in this project. I didn't understand what the pimp outfit was for, but I loved the handlebar moustache! Take note that the orgy scene takes place in a school bus - the "short bus", of course...
Titan's "Closed Set" was not what I expected. It seemed more like a quickie release made out of audition material, but I got to see a lot of local guys that I never expected to see in porn. The most outstanding part of this movie is the revelation from Cole Ryan, that up to that day, he was a VIRGIN! Never had sex with a man - or a woman! Classic moment in porn history right there.
"Bear Voyage 2" from Bear Films was up next. I'm glad to see that they actually got plenty of footage out on the deck of the ship. Bear Films sponsored the cruise, but there were hundreds of tourists on the boat that had no idea there was a porn shoot going on. Watching the Behind The Scenes, it looked like a fun movie to shoot.
Gotta give Collin O'Neal credit for going to such lengths to make "Lebanon". I'm sure it was tough to coodinate a gay porn shoot in a war torn country, but if you're going to go that far, I would have liked to seen more scenery. The scenes in abandoned building and or the rocky ravine could have been in shot in Nevada. I was envious of his three way scene with Francois Sagat and foreign discovery Jacko. Incredible scene!
Buckshot's "Quenched", however, did take full advantage of sweeping vistas and gorgeous scenery in their travelogue offering. Guys had sex in the lake, on the rocks, and in a speedboat with water and mountains in every shot.
Don't feel bad if I didn't write a tidbit about your movie this time. I'm sure I loved it, and I love you, too. Kiss, kiss. Let's do lunch.

Britney's Skinhead Antics
The Anna Nichole Smith breakdown is still unraveling, and little Britney Spears is desperately trying to outdo her in the crazy department.
Rumors have it that Britney checked into a rehab facility in the Bahamas last week, spent one day, then checked herself out. Sometime Friday she walked into a beauty salon in Tarzana, CA and demanded they cut off all her hair. When they refused, she grabbed the electric shears and cut off her own hair!
She drove down the road to a tattoo parlor in Sherman Oaks, got a cross on her butt cheek, and lips on her wrist and caused quite a scene. Paparazzi followed here and caught it all on tape.
How will this all play out? Here's the options:
1. Sudden death in the next few months. Overdose, car accident, fatal fall, suicide.
2. In and out of rehab numerous times over the next 10 years resulting in a slow, painful downward spiral.
3. Joining a religious cult that promises to keep her clean by watching over her every move, managing every aspect of her career and personal life. She'll turn into an obnoxious Gospel spouting godbot.
I'm enjoying the crazy skinhead antics. She has had so many perverts after Britney Spears ever since she started being "sexy" in little school girl uniforms. Now she'll have a bunch of REAL sickos digging the skinhead look.
Gay skinheads have been a somewhat controversial fetish, sometimes being confused with Neo-Nazis. Director Bruce LaBruce did a really hot movie for Cazzo Films in Germany in 1999 called "Skin Gang", where he deliberately pushed some buttons. "La Dolce Vita" Infringement Case
This just in from CNN.
CNN???! Michael Lucas' GayVN nominated movie got coverage on CNN? That's bigger news than the lame lawsuit being filed against him! And by the way, the GayVN Editor informed us that the lawsuit does NOT effect the awards in anyway. As Tim Gunn would say, "Carry on!"
The story is going to be in all the papers and blogs all over the place, but you can read Lucas's official response after the jump. I think his best point is made when he wrote:
"I can see that their actions are incredibly homophobic. There is a straight pornographic movie that was produced in Italy in 2003 called "La Dolce Vita." It contains many of the same elements in the Fellini version, bears exactly the same title, and has been sold all over the world for the past 4 years. But International Media Films did nothing about it for years. International Media Films, apparently, feels that only my gay film, which sells for considerably more than DVDs of either Fellini’s film or the straight porn film of the same name, could tarnish the reputation of the Fellini classic. This is incredibly homophobic."
Fellini vs. porn?
International Media Films Inc. accused New York filmmaker Andrei Treivas Bregman of trademark and copyright infringement for the porn films he made under his business name, Michael Lucas. The lawsuit seeks to stop sales of the movies, "Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita" Parts 1 and 2, and to collect unspecified damages.
Bregman, who moved to the United States from Moscow in 1997, called the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Manhattan a joke.
"Nobody can be confused and think they're buying Fellini's movie by buying mine," said Bregman, noting the name Michael Lucas was part of his title, which otherwise means "The Sweet Life."
New York-based International Media Films said it believed the gay pornographic films, released last month, will "infringe, tarnish and dilute" its trademark rights to the highly decorated "La Dolce Vita," which won the 1961 Academy Award for costume design and the New York Film Critics Circle Award for best foreign film of that year.
"La Dolce Vita," with its famously sexy scene of Anita Ekberg coaxing Marcello Mastroianni into the Trevi fountain, also won the Golden Palm at Cannes. Fellini won a lifetime achievement award in film in 1993, shortly before his death.
International Media Films said it bought "La Dolce Vita" in 2001. The film introduced the term "paparazzi" as it followed the life of a tabloid journalist who covers the show business life of Rome while yearning to write about more serious subjects.

Updates from Lucas Entertainment
Michael Lucas chimed in about the story I ran yesterday regarding the Porn Pirates by sending a press release about that and a list of other items he's working on. Two days later Michael Lucas called to correct me on some bad reporting I did on the pirating story. It's a complicated story, and the general public reading this won't understand it or care, but the fact is, my sloppy reporting resulted in some incorrect statements. I have since deleted them. At least I know who is reading Lavender Lounge Blog!
Michael Lucas is also starting to talk up his new movie starring the legendary Johnny Hanson, Ben Andrews, and Chad Hunt to be called "The Bigger The Better," will be out on March 6th. Johnny makes his return to the industry after over 10 years in retired absence!
I wonder if Michael Lucas is aware that there is a famous Matt Sterling movie named "The Bigger the Better"? It starred Rick Donovan, Matt Ramsey, Shawn McIvan, Brian Michaels, Buster, and Mike Ramsey and for those of us of a certain age, it was a groundbreaking title we can't forget.

Pirated Porn Seized
It's hard enough to sell porn DVD's these days, but as the guys from Dark Alley Media found out recently, there are shady people out there making it even harder. A during routine check of retailers in New York, DAM's Matthias von Fistenberg and Owen Hawk uncovered a major scam involving most of the popular gay porn companies. By banding together with a group of other studios, they got a court order and picked up 4,000 of the bootleg discs.

And in an item I missed last week, the legendary Ray Dragon has signed a distribution deal with Dark Alley. The first film the companies will release together will be "Jonny's Place," starring Arpad Miklos, Mick Powers, and Jonny Mack. It will be Dragon's first movie shot outside of his Manhattan dungeon.
"Jonny's Place is something different for me - we shot in daylight instead of the basement - though it still has a blue collar touch,” said Ray Dragon about his latest release, “It also features a new discovery Jonny Mack in his first adult film."

Today at 10:00am EST, officers from Dark Alley Media and Pitbull Productions together with the United States Marshall raided two adult video stores in Times Square, Manhattan, seizing over 4000 counterfeit DVD’s. This represents the largest such seizure of counterfeit gay product to date.
Dark Alley Media originally discovered the counterfeit operation through routine sales work over a month ago. After the initial discovery, other studios were contacted and Pitbull Productions led the crucial legal proceedings.
Joining them in a Federal suit against the stores are Titan Media, Hot House, Falcon, Raging Stallion, and Jet Set. All of these companies had a wide range of counterfeit products in these stores, and decided together to stand with Dark Alley and Pitbull against this illegal operation.
“When we first uncovered this plot, we had no idea the depth to which it would extend. Soon, we discovered nearly every studio in this industry was being affected,” says Dark Alley Media President Matthias von Fistenberg. “No one should think that because we produce adult material, or gay material, that we do not deserve equal protection under the laws of this country, or that we will show any hesitation in exercising our right.”
Though nearly every major gay porn studio was contacted and informed that their product was being sold for prices as low as $6, many chose not to take a stand against pirating. Many of their movies remain for sale at these locations.

WEHO Porn Awards
I was in LA last week for the XBiz convention, and I needed an escape from the boobage of the straight porn companies, so I went down to WEHO with my camera. Here's a quick run down of people I ran into:

A group of gay-for-pay guys were being paraded around the convention promoting a website that doesn't exist yet, and they were the opening act for the awards show. Got lots of photos of them, plus Randy Blue brought some of his new exclusives as well, and I found myself mesmerized by Chris Rockaway, another gay-for-pay guy that's exclusive to RandyBlue.com.

Greetings From LA!
I am in Hollywood right now - across from Graumann's Chinese Theater to be exact - for a porn webmaster convention. It's being held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the original site of the Oscars, built in 1927. A big overhaul recently makes this place spectacular!
I've been working on making big changes to my entire business, so a lot of the ideas I've been thinking about on my own are the same as they are recommending here at the convention.
Went to the porn Weho Awards last night at Mickey's. (ANOTHER awards show? Good lord.) I took lots of pictures of cute guys showing their ass. VIP members will see them next week.
After the awards, I ran into Kent Taylor from Raging Stallion having dinner with some big, dumb slab of meat. Then Bobby Trendy walked in and sat himself down at our table. Kent didn't recognize him, so I just let Bobby be Bobby. He regaled us with stories of how he designs only "mansions and palaces" and explained that when people win the lottery or sign their first record deal, Bobby Trendy is the third place they go (first they buy a big car, then a house, then get Bobby to decorate it.) Bobby cooed and purred all over the "dumb straight boy with a girlfriend and a sugar daddy gay pornstar wannabe", and they both fed pieces of steak to each other.
Kent and I kept shooting knowing glances at each other, and at one point he told me under his breathe, "I love my life..." After we left and I joked about having dinner with Bobby Trendy, Kent asked, "Who is Bobby Trendy?" I had to explain his connection to Anna Nicole Smith. Years ago when they announced she had a reality show coming out, I actually canceled cable and ordered satellite TV just to be able to see that show.

Hairy Chests or Smooth?
I discovered new website called TheGuySite.com, and looked through their choices of models the other day. Not bad. A couple cuties. Then I went back today and saw the latest update. OMFG! The latest update features a return engagement from a model named Joey (see top right). That one picture alone was worth adding them as a sponsor!
So I went back and took a closer look at some of the models at TheGuySite.com. At least two of the models that did an early photo session came back a second time - with more muscle and more chest hair. Compare the before and after shots. When you have a beautiful pelt like that, why would you even THINK of shaving it off?

Homo Punk Rocker Nick Name Re-Surfaces
A few years ago some photos of a super-hot lead singer from a punk band with the moniker "Nick Name and The Normals" starting showing up on the web. I actually caught his act without the band a few years ago at the Campus Theater, and drooled all the way through it. Back when in the 70's when the punk movement began, THAT was the type of punk rockers I prayed for - angry AND buffed.
In old interview from Y-Files Zine, he said this:
YF: Sex appeal plays a major part in your performances. What are your feelings regarding sexual exploitation ie. using sex as a commodity to sell?
NN: Sex is exciting. Sex sells itself.
YF: Do you drink alcohol or ever indulge in drugs? Does that interfere with working out (if indeed you do)?

Fast forward to 2007, and Nick Name has re-surfaced under his real name Kent James. Yesterday's Bay Area Reporter caught up with him living in San Francisco with a beard, tatoos and a dog. Still gorgeous, still making music, and now right here in the hood! Woo Hoo!

FYERFLI in the VIP Room
A new gallery of photos have been added to the "Faerie Porn" section of the Lavender Lounge VIP Room. The model is FYERFLI, and although he's done a few gay porn movies, he's not one of your usual porn star types. He's a DJ, an artist, a stripper, and a fire dancer. I knew FYERFLI before he did porn as just one of those gorgeous "alternative" faerie boys that run around San Francisco and show up at all the hippest events.
The shoot was done just after he got back from Burning Man, and as soon as he saw himself in the full-length mirror in the studio, he said, "Wow, I look HOT! I guess not eating and taking drugs in the desert might actually be good for you!"
He was such a ham, I had no problem getting him to camp it up for the camera. We did a couple of costume changes (his own creations), he tried out some unusual poses, and I tried some bizarre camera angles.
What is a "faerie"? Well, it's hard to describe, but I think FYERFLI is as good an example as I could find. Faerie culture is mostly a West Coast phenomenon, primarily seen in San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and the handful of annual faerie "gatherings" in places like Short Mountain, Tennessee or Wolf Creek, Oregon. The Faeries are not a club you can join, it's just a network of like-minded guys that like to get together now and then. They have an indescribable "style" (or anti-style) that you either "get" or don't "get".
I've met so many sexy faerie boys, but I've noticed that the increasingly niche-oriented adult community has not discovered this sub-subculture. I bought the URL FaeriePorn.com in hopes of giving some, ahem, exposure to this sex-charged part of the gay community. Titan Signs Dean Flynn and Victor Banda
Titan signs two more stunners, Dean Flynn and Victor Banda. Dean is 25 and from New York, Victor is 22 and from Spain.
They're saying Dean Flynn is reminiscent of early 1970’s gay adult stars such as Casey Donovan, and I'd go along with that.
Victor Banda is Titan's youngest exclusive, a studio normally known for its daddies. Then again, take it from this daddy, when the opportunity arises, fresh meat like that one is just fine.

It's a little early for Easter, but Pop Culture Magpie sent me links to these promotional photos from an upcoming play in New York to be called "Matthew Passion". I don't know a thing about the show other than the delicious eye candy you see before you. What more do you need to know, except "Loin cloth design by Rob Bevenger". It is my imagination or is Jesus sporting a really big boner in that loincloth?

Lunch With Jake Deckard
Yesterday I had lunch with my porn star neighbor, Jake Deckard. ("You have porn stars as neighbors? Well, la dee da!") I didn't really plan on it being a business lunch or an interview. (Stupidly, I didn't even take the receipt for my taxes.) But, for guys like us that are so deeply involved in the gay porn industry, it's pretty hard to talk about anything else. I finally broke down and started taking some notes because he was telling me about so many interesting things going on at Raging Stallion.
Besides being a Raging Stallion exclusive, Chris Ward sees bigger potential in Jake Deckard. He's been assigned to "follow around" J.D. Slater to learn what he does. Jake's been given the opportunity to direct at least one scene for an upcoming movie in the Centurian Muscle series, and even shoot the behind-the-scenes footage for a movie coming out at the end of 2007. Jake told me he's not setting his sites on becoming a director, but he's just the type of person who just likes to learn anything he can. Jake has also been learning the sound editing part of the business - chopping out the sirens, off stage whispers, and girlish giggles from the sidelines.
Jake Deckard also regaled me with tales of Raging Stallion's latest big production, "Mirage", which is to be the sequel to "Arabesque". Jake wrote the story, and another Raging Stallion star, Steve Cruz, wrote the dialogue. Supposedly, $10,000 was spent on building a 360 degree set to create an Egyptian tomb for the first scene. (A few years ago, you could make a whole movie for 10 grand!) The Indiana Jones - type action adventure incorporates footage shot on a private plane, leading to the inevitable plane crash in the desert ,and of course, the heroes get chased by crazy Arabs.
The desert footage for "Mirage" was shot in a big canyon outside Palm Springs, and according to Jake, the nearest house belongs to Zsa Zsa Gabor! (The poor girl is pretty much on her deathbed. Too bad she's missing all the fun.)
They just finished production on "Mirage" and the promotional machine is already starting up, so you'll be hearing a lot abou this one very soon. Not only is it the only gay porn movie I can think of that incorporated footage shot on a private plane, but they will be touting it as the first gay porn movie on High Definition DVD, using the HD DVD format.
After an hour and a half oogling Jake Deckard, I finally had to wrap it up, but we'll be hanging out more often, I'm sure. Stay tuned.
