Homo Punk Rocker Nick Name Re-Surfaces
A few years ago some photos of a super-hot lead singer from a punk band with the moniker "Nick Name and The Normals" starting showing up on the web. I actually caught his act without the band a few years ago at the Campus Theater, and drooled all the way through it. Back when in the 70's when the punk movement began, THAT was the type of punk rockers I prayed for - angry AND buffed.
In old interview from Y-Files Zine, he said this:
YF: Sex appeal plays a major part in your performances. What are your feelings regarding sexual exploitation ie. using sex as a commodity to sell?
NN: Sex is exciting. Sex sells itself.
YF: Do you drink alcohol or ever indulge in drugs? Does that interfere with working out (if indeed you do)?
NN: I drink a little bit. I do drugs a little bit more. If I party too much my workouts go down the toilet.
YF: Do you consider yourself a "gay/queer sex symbol"?
NN: Only when I'm high.
YF: Folks often associate you with what they interpret as your raw masculine sexuality/animal magnetism thing. How do you react to this observation?
NN: I wonder why I don't just go be a porno star...damn the artist in me!
Um, sweety, it's not too late to be in porn! Call me, we'll do lunch.
Fast forward to 2007, and Nick Name has re-surfaced under his real name Kent James. Yesterday's Bay Area Reporter caught up with him living in San Francisco with a beard, tatoos and a dog. Still gorgeous, still making music, and now right here in the hood! Woo Hoo!
