Bill O'Reilly is An Asshole!

COLTI'd haven't watched Bill O'Reilly since he anchored that tabloid TV show, "Hard Copy", "Current Affair", or whatever it was called. (As if what he does now on Fox isn't tabloid journalism...) When I watched this episode of "The Factor", I finally realized how truely brilliant Stephen Colbert is at mocking his show! O'Reilly is an asshole!

Before I rant about his coverage of the COLT story, one of the stories preceding had Greta Von Susteren reporting on Anna Nicole Smith. O'Reilly was badgering her for information that she couldn't possibly know. Finally, she snapped back at him with something like, "Hey, I'm just the reporter, I'm not part of this story. Back off."

So when Bill O'Reilly gets to the COLT story (as seen above) his indignation is totally phony, with a smirk on his face the whole time. John Rutherford from COLT refused to be interviewed, knowing he'd just get dragged through the mud. Instead they got Angela Alioto, who hasn't been involved in local politics in a number of years, and probably doesn't give a shit about what a local company does for a living, as long as she can get campaign contributions. She also had to put on phony indignation, and had no other defense other than, "San Francisco is a great city." Lame.

They pulled some stills from ColtBlog.com of the COLT 40th Anniversary party with Carlo Masi jumping out of a cake and Sister Roma with Danny Roddick. When they talked more about San Francisco as a modern day Soddom and Gommorah, they showed the SAME early 1980's footage of Sisters in the gay parade that Jerry Falwell shows when he begs for money to fight the Homosexual Agenda. Hmm, somebody is sharing the same stock footage...

Back to the COLT 40th Anniversay party, we got there a bit late, but it was one of the most extravagant party I'd ever been to. With beautiful men and fabulousness every, I can't begin to describe it, so just check out the photos, including the fateful shot of Mark Leno awarding COLT with a certificate. But, driving up Van Ness Avenue and seeing the outside of the (Don't Ask, Don't Tell) War Memorial Building lit up with search lights and giant COLT banners, I was awestruck by the social impact that party made night. Besides being on a major thoroughfare, that building is situated between the Opera House on one side, the State Building on the other, and City Hall directly across the street! We've come a long way!
