COLT Star Danny Roddick Is Dead
The gay porn industry was shocked late last week by the sudden death of porn star Danny Roddick. Closely associated with COLT and Buckshot studios, the 29 year old Roddick made a splash as the cover boy and star of "Boot Black Blues", and was about to get a lot of publicity as star of the just-released "Brotherhood". The Jerry Douglas epic "Brotherhood" was destined to be one of the big movies of 2007, even without this added notoriety.
Danny Roddick was also the "surprise" guest star of Athletic Model Guild's newest Brazilian release "Amazonia: Capture & Release" as the only American in the picture.
Details of Danny Roddick's death are sketchy, but all I know right now is that he was a Northern California native living in San Francisco, he was a hairdresser by trade, and he had an on-again off-again relationship with another popular porn model, Alex Chandler. Generally, a 29 year old does not die of "natural causes", and accidental deaths are usually reported as such. I won't speculate, but if the cause of death is something that could be embarrassing, I hope the explanation comes as a cautionary tale to warn others.
I met Danny Roddick at Up Your Alley in 2006 as he and then-boyfriend Alex Chandler stood out from the crowd as shirtless demi-gods. I stopped in my tracks, asked to take a photo, and the pair just radiated beauty. It was one of the stand-out photos of the day. As I introduced myself, the more outgoing Alex responded that they had just signed on as COLT exclusives. From then on, every time I ran into the pair, it was the more gregarious Alex that spoke for the two of them, and in retrospect, Danny hardly ever said two words to me. I understand - for young attractive guys like him, I am just a creepy old man. I'm used to that. Unfortunately, I can't expound on his sweetness or humanity, because I didn't know him well enough.

Though it's a short list of credits, Danny Roddick leaves us with a fine body of work, and his beauty has been captured for the ages by some of the best in the business.
