Vintage Gay Porn Purchases From Ebay
I have been working on a really big and really fun project lately. Along with the vintage gay porn magazines that I have been collecting for a number of years, I recently started buying up old gay porn movies on 8mm and Super 8. For you youngsters out there, that's FILM. As is celluloid.
I bought a few here and there years ago just on a lark because I liked the boxes, but a few months ago I spotted a whole box of 8mm movies at my favorite local thrift store. I thought about it, rummaged through them, then left. I walked to the car, but before I could get away, I marched right back and bought all they had. I wasn't sure what to do with them, but I figured I would think of something.
A couple weeks later, the same store had two more boxes of 8mm porn movies, so here I go, plunking down another couple hundred dollars for obsolete technology!
After I added a few more titles from other sources to my collection, I decided it was time to do my homework find out if any of these old movies had been re-released on VHS or DVD. I've really learned a lot about vintage porn over the past few months! I can now identify a Brentwood Film or a Falcon movie just by the model number even if it's just stamped on a plain white box.
I set up a projector and screen in my spare room and I have been methodically watching each movie one by one. I separate the movies that I know for sure are copyright protected and do extensive research to determine if the rest have been re-issued by someone else. After careful research, I believe I have enough vintage gay porn footage from those old 8mm movies to put out 10 or 20 DVDs at about 2 hours each.
Previewing these old movies, most of which have just plain white boxes with no information, has been like playing detective. Every time I put a reel on the projector, I have no idea what it's going to be! I've had to create a database to keep track of them - at least by description. Most of them fall into the vague category of "Two twinks fucking on a bed," but there have also been some real gems! I've so far only separated them into "Hunks", "Twinks", "Kinky", and (gulp) "Straight". I will then sub-divide each of those into the appropriate two-hour packages. BTW, the Straight movies are actually the most vintage, going back to the 1950's!.
I am now so hooked on this 8mm movie re-issue project that I am even buying shit from Ebay! When I have missing parts of a series I need for my collection, I check Ebay. And I am also searching Ebay for the magazines that were printed to promote the movies back in the day. That way, I can scan the magazines and add little slide show galleries on the DVD Extras.
To give you an idea what I am talking about, the one picture is from "Games And Fun", an 8mm movie with it's original box. The other picture is from the magazine put out to go along with the movie I already own called "Recycled Suds". (Yes, Virginia, it's a PISS movie!)

Trent Lott Quits Over Gay Hooker Scandal?
No No. This can't be true...
A Washington, D.C. political blogger (BigHeadDC) is making claims that a 21 year old male escort named Benjamin Nicholas may be the reason Republican Senator Trent Lott is stepping down so suddenly. There is so far no concrete evidence, but there are so many bloodhounds chasing this story, they will either find something damning, or Lott's legacy will be permanently damaged by innuendo alone. Are we gearing up for another "I am not gay and I have never been gay" press conference?
It's fun to piece together a puzzle with questionable circumstantial evidence and email replies from a young guy with no press agent to screen is correspondences, but let's not jump to conclusions (as much as we'd LIKE to...)
On October 31st I added Washington State Rep. Richard Curtis to the list of disgraced Republicans involved in gay sex scandals in the last two years: Larry Craig, Bob Allen, Ted Haggard, Jim West, Mark Foley, Jeff Gannon, Glenn Murphy Jr., and Matt Sanchez. At the time, Larry Flynt was bragging he had another big Republican scandal to unveil.
Well, Washington insiders are now grilling the Hustler magnate to spill what he knows about Trent Lott. Larry Flynt is being cagey either because he is waiting for the right moment, or he's got nothing and is just milking the attention.
In a perfect world, it shouldn't be a national disgrace for a 66 year old senator to hire a 21 year old male escort. But it's not a perfect world and Trent Lott's voting record on liberal causes like gay rights makes it that much less of a perfect world.
The exchange DOES NOT yet provide any real evidence that there was a relationship between Nicholas and Trent Lott, however, it's certain to be picked apart in minute detail, such as this remark:
Nicholas: "I’m a blogger as well, so I’m well aware that nothing in this world is ever truly ‘off-record.’ Trent is going through his fair share of scrutiny right now and I don’t want to add to it. All I can say at this point is no comment. It’s the professional thing for me to do."
Addressing Senator Lott as "Trent" seems to imply that the lawmaker was more than a passing acquaintance, but that's pretty much all I can glean from the exchange.
Big Head DC adds: "It is of course Nicholas’ way of framing his answers in these e-mails, i.e. 'no current affiliation with Lott,' referring to the senator as Trent, etc. that has helped lead many today to question why Nicholas has decided to backtrack. Perhaps he had promised an exclusive to another publication, and accidentally dropped the ball? Perhaps some of his current clients became frightened, so he decided to try to make the story go away? Or perhaps he has felt some other sorts of pressure. We do not know at this point. But, rest assured, we are working to find out."
The latest from Benjamin Nicholas in his vain attempt to put an end to it all:
"And I thought having my family in for Thanksgiving was wild..."
"It looks like a Washington DC-based blog called BigHeadDC is making claim that there was (or, is) a working relationship between myself and Senator Trent Lott. There are falsely pieced-together quotes that serve no purpose other than to sensationalize a completely fabricated scoop."
"I will continue to offer a great sense of confidentiality to the people I see, but I have not, nor have I ever seen or had contact with Senator Trent Lott. It's as simple as that. It never happened."
In any case, Larry Flynt has a bombshell of some sort coming, and Trent Lott quit suddenly for a reason. This will be fun to watch play out!

"Ink Storm" Directed by Jake Deckard
Ink Storm is the directorial debut by porn star Jake Deckard, but the smoking hot guy on the cover with the full-body tattoos seems to be the one making news. X-Factor Magazine to Fold - Sister Zsa Zsa in Last Issue

X-Factor to cease publication
Phoenix, Nov. 16, 2007 — After an 18-year run, X-Factor is closing its
doors. In October, General Manager Tim DePlanche announced that the
publisher was terminating the magazine at the end of 2007. DePlanche did
not give a reason for the decision.
X-Factor had its origins among a group of seven friends in 1988, who
wanted to publish a new gay newsmagazine in Phoenix. That magazine
debuted in September 1989, as Echo Magazine. The back pages of Echo were
the "adult section." They consisted of personals, phone sex ads and gay
porn reviews by a freelance writer calling himself Onan the Vulgarian,
who quickly found a permanent home there.
The adult content of Echo proved to be an obstacle to achieving wider
distribution and finding outlets to stock the free magazine. As a
result, the controversial material evolved into a separate pull-out
section. When that proved to be unwieldy, the pull-out section became
X-Factor.
The first independent X-Factor appeared on Halloween: Oct. 31, 1994. It
featured Adam Hart and Joshua Sterling on the cover, in a film by John
Trennell for Studio 2000, called "Nights in Eden." That video got an
average 2-shirt rating from Onan, who gave a Scorched Shirt to Pleasure
Productions' "Interior Motives" in the same issue.
In 1996, with the growth of the Internet and the decline of phone sex
advertising, Ken Furtado, one of the founders of Echo, was made editor
of X-Factor, to develop new content and attract wider readership.
"Lefty Mouser" was the first new writer hired by Furtado, to review gay
websites. Other columns were soon added, including the popular
Whoroscopes, book reviews, sex fitness, The Naked Traveler and the
annual Hard Choice Awards, Onan's distinctively idiosyncratic gay porn
awards. A Web site was added in 1998.
The adult industry pricked up its ears, as did fans. Over the years,
X-Factor won many accolades and awards, both in the USA and abroad, for
its unique content.
Furtado says, "I always wanted X-Factor to give readers something they
could not find elsewhere, and my writers and I have succeeded in doing
that. The demand for print copies continues to be greater than the
number of magazines available and online readership is at its all-time
high."
Although the print publication will no longer exist, Furtado plans to
launch a new version of X-Factor online early in 2008. The new
incarnation of X-Factor will have a different URL but most of the same
columns and writers, plus new features. Readers can email
xxxfactor@earthlink.net and request to be put on a one-time-only mailing
list to be notified when the new site is launched.
Echo Magazine will continue to be published.

Johnny Castle - MEN Magazine Man of the Year
MEN Magazine has named Johnny Castle, another straight / gay for pay model, as their Man of the Year. I do agree that he HAS made a sensation in the industry, showing up on every website and working for practically every video production company that employs gay for pay models. But it sure would be nice to choose a gay guy as Man of the Year for a gay publication.
From what I understand, even though he has posed for gay websites and appeared in gay movies, he only works solo, just like Mark Dalton and Zeb Atlas before him. When You Tube first started, I was trying to create a collection of bizarre home made videos to share with my readers, but alas, it became too monumental a task to keep up. The number of "what-the-fuck-were-they-thinking" videos is staggering.
Here's one that gave me a chuckle, though. Apparently someone has made a series of taking Indian music videos and putting nonsense English subtitles that vaguely sound like the lyrics. This one is an obvious early 1980's rip-off of Michael Jackson's "Thriller".

I'm not sure it's been a particularly bad year compared to previous years, instead I think there is just much more media reporting news about the industry. News via gay porn blogs and discussion boards travels faster than ever before. Rather than waiting three months for gay porn news to show up in print, we find out about it in minutes.
When I founded Gay Porn Blog, I was the only game out there reporting this kind of information instantly. I now have millions of competitors with a lot more space to fill, so more items get reported than ever before. If it weren't for the speed and multitude of gay porn blogs and discussion boards, the deaths of guys like Joe Romero and Haus Weston might have gotten passed over if the timing or the space considerations weren't right.
I knew Joe Romero in the late 1980's before he got into porn. I was dating a guy who was managing a bagel shop here in the Castro, and Joe was one of his little twinks working behind the counter. I'd seen him around town for years, and I believe I must have worked on the crew on at least one movie that Joe Romero was in, but I can't remember the occasion.
I do remember Joe Romero got recruited to perform in a big production number when Wigstock came to San Francisco. Cockatelia created dozens of costumes and choreographed a big jungle rhythm number with herself as the star, but all eyes were on the one scantily clad hot guy amid the tired drag queens! Joe was a big hit!
I also remember Joe Romero called me out of the blue in 1996 to help promote his music career. He somehow hooked up with some sort of high tech company that used his music for an interactive CD-ROM and he invited me to visit their booth at MacWorld. Thanks to Joe, I got into MacWorld for free, listened to his pitch, and he gave me an audio cassette of his music. The market for interactive CD-ROMs just never took off. I hadn't heard anything else about Joe Romero's musical career until today, when I dug through a box of old cassettes, and there it was! A 1996 demo tape of Joe Romero! I'll spare you from reproducing it into an audio file for the internets, because at the time, he was adamant that it was only a rough, unfinished demo tape.
As for Haus Weston, I never met him, but I do remember he made a bit of a splash ten years ago when he was discovered by All Worlds, even warranting a compilation video, "Best of Haus Weston".
Both died much younger than they should have, but I have no further details. I ask that you take a look at the body of work left by both of these young men to remember them in their prime.

Twink Videos Added to Lavender Lounge VIP Room
I get so wrapped up in promoting porn featuring big, beefy, muscle guys that I often forget about all the twink material I have in the Lavender Lounge VIP Room! Wishing You a Hairy Christmas from Bearforce 1
Bear boyband Bearforce 1 is back with their Christmas medley, "Christmas Is Here". These guys have gotten even hotter since their first video! Yum! I especially like the part where they lift their shirts to the verse "We wish you a hairy Christmas". Woof and double woof with snowflakes on top!
We did a little pre-Christmas shopping yesterday at Union Square and tried to hit all the stores we can't afford - Chanel, Ben Sherman, Barney's, Betsy Johnson, but got to Prada at closing time. I tried on a Prada jacket at Barney's priced at $2150, but it looked too much like Members Only. The Dolce & Gabbana silver vinyl jackets for $1600 looks disturbingly similar to the one I am about to donate to Community Thrift.
With so many people out shopping, you'd never know the stock market took a dive three times last week.

Falcon's "Endless Crush" Starring the Jarics
"Endless Crush" from Falcon looks like it's going to be a good movie. It stars Falcon's latest sensation a committed gay couple. Aden & Jordan Jaric. The cutsey couple even went so far as to take the same last name. Awwww! Isn't that just cuuuute?
Looks like it's another camping in the woods / fucking on the patio deck / swimming in the Russian River / Falcon classic in the making.
Besides the Jarics, it stars Brad Star, Mason Wyler, Cole Ryan, Tristan Jaxx, Kurt Wild, Steve Ponce, Todd Welch, and Colby Taylor.

Lakshmi The Four-Armed Tabloid Goddess
Now that the Weekly World News is defunct, I guess we have to create our own shocking tabloid headlines.
Not funny? Too much? Go ahead, tell me I'm tasteless, but if you read it in The Onion instead of here, you'll be rolling on the floor, reading it aloud to anyone in earshot and texting all your friends.
A two year old girl born with eight limbs is undergoing surgery to remove the parasitic twin. When Lakshmi was born into a poor, rural Indian family, villagers in the remote settlement of Rampur Kodar Katti in the northern state of Bihar believed she was sacred. As news of her birth spread, locals waited in line for a blessing from the baby.
Her parents, Shambhu and Poonam Tatma, named the girl after the Hindu goddess of wealth who has four arms. However, they were forced to keep her in hiding after they were approached by men offering money in exchange for putting their daughter in a circus.
Hindu goddess Lakshmi is depicted as a beautiful woman of golden complexion, with four hands, sitting or standing on a full-bloomed lotus and holding a lotus bud, which stands for beauty, purity and fertility. Her four hands represent the four ends of human life: dharma or righteousness, kama or desires, artha or wealth, and moksha or liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
Cascades of gold coins are seen flowing from her hands, suggesting that those who worship her gain wealth. She always wears gold embroidered red clothes. Red symbolizes activity and the golden lining indicates prosperity.

Photo Spread In Euro Bear Magazine
While I was in LA last week, I picked up a copy of Euro Bear Magazine #19, and sure enough, there was a four page spread of my photos! I shoot zillions of photos for my websites, but there is something gratifying about having your photos printed in an actual magazine. And a four page spread in an internationally distributed magazine is pretty impressive!
The photos were from the Up Your Alley Street Fair here in San Francisco this past July and Lazy Bear Weekend in August. Hopefully, the next issue of Euro Bear Magazine will feature my photos from Bear Week / Hairrison Street Fair. (To read my brilliant writings along with the photos, click the photo to enlarge.)
