SOMA Bare Chest Calendar Finals
I went to the finals of the South of Market Bare Chest Calendar Contest yesterday. It's the 25th year for the famous calendar of San Francisco's hottest and bravest men. Why are they brave? Not only do they have to display themselves on stage looking sexy in order to get photographed for the calendar, but they have to do it all year long at numerous events to raise money for the charities by hawking calendars. In choosing who gets to be on the calendar, a lot of emphasis is placed on contestants' availability to promote the calendar and how well they "play with others". It takes more than one night of liquid courage and good looks to win a coveted spot.
The beneficiaries of the Bare Chest Calendar are the AIDS Emergency Fund and Positive Resource Center. You can order the calendar online at BareChest.org, or just send a donation to the charities directly.
I didn't stay for the last round, but I got about 200 pictures of the hunky guys with manly chests.
