Halloween in San Francisco 2004
I hadn't gone to the Castro on Halloween for many years, and from what I heard last year, it sounds like it's safe once again. The Sisters hooked up with the organizers of the Parade of Lights, which as it turned, was the ONLY way to fly.
We met behind the Gay Community Center to line up for the parade. This gave us all a central meeting place, for once. We had a police escort the entire route down Market Street, with our own barracaded lane that took us right up to 19th Street. Sweet. No tangling with all the rabble. We headed for the backstage area, copped some soft drinks, and waited for our turn to bless the event. Saint Marcy can now add knocking over the drinks table to her list of things she will be memorialized for. (Along with falling on someone's tent in the middle of the night at Lazy Bear....)

Wow! Truly an over-the-top gay Halloween melee. Sounds like it was fun.
I enjoyed a smaller but equally bizarre private gathering of my misfit friends dressed to the theme of "Ho's and Pimps" here in Portland, Oregon.
