Blame it on Joan Crawford. After marrying the head of Pepsi, Don’t-Fuck-With-Me Joan combined her clout as Hollywood royalty to promote her interests in the soft drink business, and vice versa. In her 1964 movie "Strait Jacket", there’s a scene where Joan plays hostess to her future son in law by entering the room carrying a tray full of Pepsi bottles with the labels clearly displayed to the camera. It’s one of the first blatant uses of product placement in movies I can recall. (Show that scene to a group of campy queens raised on "Mommy Dearest" and watch them squeal with delight!)
Be prepared to see more product placement in all types of media in the immediate future. Network TV is getting clobbered by Tivo because everyone is skipping over the commercials. In response, we’re seeing more and more products being pushed within the actual content of the TV programs. Action movies don’t do car chases just for the sake of a car chase. It’s all about selling the new Audi or Mini Cooper by making it look good in a car chase. Instead of June Cleaver saying, "Drink your orange juice, Beaver.", the script will say, "Drink your delicious Sunny Delight, now fortified with 12 essential vitamins, Beaver."

Wow. Your review would be pretty good if you didn't feel the need to be holier than thou and make comments like "Thankfully, though, we don’t see any reference to party-and-play (or PnP) encounters" or "Scene Three is a fantasy I would never participate in myself". Lots of people think pnp and/or anonymous scenes in porn are really hot and probably very few care whether or not you personally endorse the activity in real life. They are "movies" afterall.... maybe some people like to see things in a porn BECAUSEE THEY CAN'T do them in real life. Just a thought.
